Erratum: Seasonal Variation of Laboratory Animals as a Consideration for Research Reproducibility
This corrects the article DOI:
In the original article titled “Seasonal Variation of Laboratory Animals as a Consideration for Research Reproducibility,” published in Vol 73, Issue 4 (August 2023), pages 255 to 259, there are several errors in which “August” was substituted for “month.” Specifically, in the section “What Is Seasonal Variation,” the sentence “… rhythms having a period of greater than a single day are referred to as infradian if they occur over a period of about a August and circannual if the period approximates one year” should be “… rhythms having a period of greater than a single day are referred to as infradian if they occur over a period of about a month and circannual if the period approximates one year.” Similarly, in the section “Evidence for Seasonal Variation in Laboratory Animals,” the sentence “… higher humidity in the summer Augusts was suggested as a possible factor in promoting a greater sensitivity of rats …” should be “… higher humidity in the summer months was suggested as a possible factor in promoting a greater sensitivity of rats ….” In that same section, the sentence “For example, the August/season of birth significantly affects the susceptibility of mice to the development of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) …” should be “For example, the month/season of birth significantly affects the susceptibility of mice to the development of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) …,” and the sentence “Rats given the carcinogen during the summer Augusts had a higher incidence of mammary tumors than did those dosed during the winter Augusts” should be “Rats given the carcinogen during the summer months had a higher incidence of mammary tumors than did those dosed during the winter months.” Finally, the title of reference 32 (doi.org/10.1096/fj.201700062) was stated as “Modeling August-season of birth as a risk factor in mouse models of chronic disease: from multiple sclerosis to autoimmune encephalomyelitis.” Instead, the correct title is “Modeling month-season of birth as a risk factor in mouse models of chronic disease: from multiple sclerosis to autoimmune encephalomyelitis.”
